Rebecca Duffett spoke with James Aladiran

We had the first one in May 2009 and we gathered together a few people and it was amazing. We actually just thought, well thank God for this because the Lord really moved. We didn't think that we're going to be doing something regularly, but we just felt that the Lord was stirring us in that direction to have another one.

The next one we had was in February this year, which was a big step forward from the one we had last year. A lot more people were there and the anointing, the presence of God was much more intense. People were being set free and it was just clearly something that the Lord was doing. It was obvious to all of us that God is in this and God really wants to mobilise prayer in young people. So we thought it would be good to have another one praying for the elections coming up in May; so we had one. It wasn't one we planned as much as the February one; it was more something we felt was necessary to pray into the elections. We gathered a few more young people together and had that one, which was also another amazing time. All the meetings so far it's just amazing to look back and see what God has done.

Rebecca: What do you see as the future for Prayer Storm?

James: I don't know where it's going to go, but I do know it's going somewhere. What I see is a mass mobilisation of young people in the nation to pray. I believe the Lord wants to do that. I don't think he's going to do that just through Prayer Storm. I think the Lord is doing so many things I know nothing about across the nation, but I believe Prayer Storm is going to be part of what God is doing in this nation, to raise up young people to begin to pray.

I see mass gatherings of people to pray. When I was in America I went to a prayer gathering in Nashville Tennessee. It was 7/7/07 and it was led by a guy called Lou Engle; it's called The Call and it's a prayer movement. There were 70,000 young people in that stadium praying for 12 hours, from 10am 'til 10pm. They were seeking God for revival and repenting, turning from their wicked ways and giving themselves to God and asking God to move in America. I was thinking, Lord I want to see this in England; Lord I want to see a mobilisation of young people that are radical, just going for God with all the distractions of the world just fading away. I believe God for mass mobilisation like that.

I don't know if Prayer Storm is going to end up that way but I believe for that. It might not end up being called Prayer Storm, but I believe for stadiums in this nation to be filled with young people crying out for God. I don't mean just coming together to have a nice time of entertainment. I mean absolutely just burning for God and crying out to him for awakening in the nation. That's where my vision is and I believe that this will be part of that, whatever that ends up being.

Rebecca: If people want to pray for you, because I'm sure you'll appreciate prayer support in this, what would you be encouraging people to pray for?

James: One of the things to pray for is just that the Lord would give us favour. There's not a lot of unity in the body like there should be. We really want to connect with churches all across this city and all across this region and all across the nation as the Lord increases our sphere of influence. We really want to see the Lord give us more. The Lord has been giving us favour with different leaders, but we want to see more of that in connection with young people especially.

If you're going to pray for us, pray that we remain strong; that we remain focused and that the Lord keeps leading us and that we keep being humble and having the right heart; all these foundational issues.

For our prayer gatherings, if people are unable to make it and want to pray for it, a good thing to pray is that we will just catch the heart of God for the nation even more; that we're going to see more young people impacted. Please pray that the leaders of the meeting, me and other people in this will be very sensitive to the Holy Spirit, to know the directions he wants us to pray into and the things he wants us to do. Without the Holy Spirit we're only making a lot of noise. We need to ask the Holy Spirit and we're giving ourselves more to this, but we need that prayer support as well and covering from the attacks of the enemy and all that.
