CR spoke with him about Kidz Klub
Continued from page 1
Sarah: As well as looking after all these kids in the Liverpool area, you've also got your own children haven't you?
Dave: I have. My eldest is Matt who is very excited about meeting the Queen later this year. I have a daughter, Abby, who's 11, Jacob's eight and Josh is five. I'm married to my wife Steph and we've all lived in Toxteth for 19 years. We enjoy going out in the countryside. We are originally from the country so we do sort of get out and about, but we love where we live and we love this city. It's great that we've been able to make a difference; not just in our community but, through the kids I've met around the city and all over the UK. This award, this MBE, is really for all the Kidz Klubs and all the volunteers across the UK; Chris Jarvis in Brighton; Paul Bristow in Windsor; Ernie in Leeds. There are hundreds of people that have been involved in reaching kids and young people in their communities and bringing a real message of hope in the Kidz Klub or in the summer ministries, so this award is really for everyone. We'll never know the real difference until we reach eternity, so we just need to do our best with the resources that we've got, to keep making a difference in their lives and the people around them.
Sarah: You mentioned that your son is excited about meeting the Queen. When is the big event?
Dave: Later in the year, they give you a little breather. I did actually phone this number and I didn't realize that it was the line to Buckingham Palace. I got a bit shocked. They answered the phone and there was this pause where I internally panicked! I phoned them up and they said that it would be in October or November. I'm looking forward to it.
Sarah: If people want to find out more about the work that you do, is there a website?
Dave: Yeah I work for Frontline Church in Wavertree Liverpool. We've got a website and its frontline.org.uk. There is also a dedicated Kids Club website kidzklub.biz.
The other Gospel resource that I've developed over the years is called the Four Points, which some people may be aware of and that's the4points.com.
These are the websites and you can contact me, if you wanted to, through the four point's website. There is a little 'contact' bit on the bottom of the website and if you click on that and send an e-mail and it will ping up, to the wondrous technology on my phone and I will get back to you. Hopefully!
