He befriends the nurses and gives out tracts in hospitals, to airport orderlies who push his wheelchair, to taxi-drivers, and to strangers in waiting rooms.
Following the words of the apostle Peter, he is prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks him to give the reason for the hope that he has.
To the world he is a hopeless case, someone with an incurable disease that needs to be managed every day. The world has written him off, but God hasn't. To Clive himself, he is brimming over with hope. Hope that one day God may heal him of this disease, but, if not, assures him of a glorious future in heaven with Him. This helps him live through the pain and the discomfort of his condition, because it speaks of better days to come.
It is this hope that defines Clive, not his disease.
He is cheerful, friendly, adventurous and full of uplifting stories. Being with him reminds us of the Christian life well-lived.
Is your heart full of hope for the future? Do you reflect this hope in the way the world sees you?
Now there's a challenge!
