Mike Davies on healing, prayer and the true Church
I regularly speculate why it is that the church time and again emerges and appears thriving when lacking the dependable trappings of its business such as Bibles, large evangelistic meetings, or Sunday morning services. In church development principally in the early church and more of late in China we can see that Bibles were without doubt not on hand. Likewise Christian gatherings in set places on a set day and time of the week were not advisable. We could undoubtedly consume time looking at the inherent significance of just one Christian in a set situation which would allow for the escalation of the church but I trust there was a sincerity of heart and a pending expectation for something new in the early church and China.
In the New Testament we ought to observe the energy and the condition of the people of God which made it all achievable. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the word of God with confidence. You may be the only person in a situation at work, home, or school but with the knowledge of who you belong to, and who you walk with, your destiny may be to bring about a monumental expression of the Holy Spirit into a place or circumstance, although ostensibly being enclosed by harassment.
I have of late spent time with churches being accessible to go from house to house. As an alternative of speaking at large healing and miracle meetings the new move is to get me to spend time out of the streets not with members of the a local church but with people who have a need of prayer. There is certainly a move in many nations where the church is actively moving back onto the streets.
I love to go from house to house, as in general the homes I visit have no perception of what is about to take place when I cross the threshold of their security and similarly I have no idea of what is going to happen; although as a rule I know that most are seriously ill and would enjoy the healing touch of God, or are in such a distressed state that only a miracle of God would change their lives. In most homes I usually start off by asking about how they perceive or know God, most reply that they have no connection with God, but if by chance he does exist they could do with his help.
A few weeks ago I was asked to pray for a lady who was severely ill. She had a daughter in her early twenties who was visiting her mother and by no means wanted to get mixed up in a healing meeting, even on a very small scale. In fact her thoughts and comments were more on the line of where had God been in the numerous years that her mother had been in agony? She then gave me other illustrations of human suffering and persisted to ask where God was when he was needed? Believing that this was not really conducive to a good atmosphere to pray for healing to come into her mother's life I prayed for the power of God to fill the room. The events that then took place were quite astounding. Too much to cover in such a sort article but it ended up with the daughter renewing a long awaited friendship with the Lord. She certainly had a lot of crying to do, but where was the greatest act of healing, in the anticipation that the mother would be instantly healed or that the daughter now had a relationship with Jesus? Not a great gathering in human terms but it made an impact in that house and street.
After Jesus ascended into heaven the church comes into existence in power and is moving in all sorts of signs, wonders, miracles, and healing and we are told how we can identify the real church with four marks of identification.
1. The Apostles Doctrine
2. Fellowship
3. Breaking of
Bread
4. Prayers
Reading through the New Testament they were truly a community together, focused and on fire for the Lord. They believed in a personal relationship with Jesus and they moved in the power of God. Moving from house to house I find that through discussion and prayer that many would actually like to get to know Jesus, some to recommit their lives to him, but still some would like the miracle but not the relationship.
My prayer as you finish reading this article is that you truly align your heart and life to a truly wonderful God and that you will truly come into a fresh encounter with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You will see the significance of who you are and that you will find total healing and restoration in your life and that you will then walk with passion and compassion for Jesus.
If you require specific prayer in a certain aspect of your life then please let me know.
