Mothers' Day recently past, which saw my youngest, Isaac (4) and I take a road trip to the shops to buy Mum cards, chocolates & flowers. I kinda was in a rush & the trip to the shops turned into 'popping in' to the local petrol station. That's right, no expense spared in the Galloway household!!

Sat in the car I asked Isaac what we should do & he replied, 'Buy Mum presents.'

He's 4.

He knows it's what we do.

It's the same for all of us when certain things crop up.

Christmas.

Birthdays.

Disasters.

Charity.

It is what we do.

That's the problem.

It's what we do.

We are conditioned to give at these selected times but thereafter it's 'dog eat dog'.

What we're training our kids is that we give on occasion. This is where we have got it wrong. The right way to think about generosity is not that it is something we do but generosity is about who we are.
