Emily Graves spoke with Mike and Deena Van't Hul, Directors of Hidden Treasures
Continued from page 2
Deena: We have big dreams.
Mike: We are believing to change the nation. How that looks is up to Father and how he leads us to open doors and see things happen here on the earth in China - but our hearts are full of hope and vision for many different areas right where we're at as well as other areas.
Deena: And we have told the Lord that if there is a child anywhere that needs help and they can't find somebody, choose us and so we just present that to the Lord. But we also have a great desire to bring education to the nation in the area of special needs. Our programme that we have here, our home, you know is a pretty much a holistic approach where we have our own clinic and our own school and we educate the kids and we treat the kids and we work on nutrition. And of course prayer is the starting point for everything and so until there's not an orphan left, that will be increased. I have a dream and my dream is that one day the government will say, we have no more children because as soon as we get a child the Christians come and they take them immediately and so I just see the family of God being full and the people of God choosing the children.
Emily: How do you find living in China and expressing your faith because I've heard that in some areas of China the Church has to be underground? So how does that work with you expressing your faith?
Mike: Things like that in China cause you to stay close to the Father and hear his voice and really discern what he's asking you to do and what he's not and pray for a lot of wisdom and directions. What we found personally, where we're at in our area is that as we've been led by his guidance we've been really able to do what he's called us to do and been protected and covered and blessed to keep going and even have plans to grow and expand the different areas of ministry. It just takes a lot of discernment and listening carefully and being Spirit-led.
Deena: We've also never tried to hide why we're here, that we are believers in Jesus Christ. We're not trying to shove it in anybody's face but we also don't want to hide our light under a bushel. We didn't come here so that people would think we're amazing: we came here so that people would understand that the love of God is real.
Emily: That's amazing. Thank you so much for speaking to me today: it's been amazing hearing your story. If anyone wants to find out more, have you got a website that they can find out more about Loaves and Fishes International?
Deena: Yes we do. Our website is www.loavesandfishesintl.com - and they can find out how to visit or how to contact us on that site.
Mike: Thank you for allowing us to share Father's heart with you guys. He loves the UK and so do we.
