Julia Fisher reviews the book
It's not often I write a book review for this column. But this month I am reeling in shock after reading 'Londonistan' by Melanie Phillips. How can it be that Britain, a country boasting centuries of democracy; a country that has befriended thousands of refugees; a country proud of its Judeo/Christian heritage, has been hijacked by Islamist terrorists and is now the European centre for the recruitment and financing of Islamist terror around the world?
Written by the distinguished journalist, Melanie Phillips, this book is meticulously researched. It dares to go where no other journalist has been; dares to say what is really happening. But this is not just some conspiracy theory dreamt up by somebody sympathetic to Israel - no, this is a book that defies political correctness, naivety and prejudice to tell us how our country has been infiltrated and abused by people intent on our destruction - people we have provided a safe haven for and even supported financially.
Melanie Phillips presents us with the facts. In the course of her research she has interviewed senior politicians. Muslims and security experts. She reveals how those who seek to promote extreme Islamic ideology have infiltrated British universities. She reveals how there has been a persistent state of denial by the British establishment, including many senior Church leaders, allowing Islamic terrorist groups to flourish and undermine the very society that has provided them with security.
So what should be our response to such a book? First of all we must read it and be grateful that somebody has had the courage to write it. Then we must recognise what's really going on in our once Christian nation now referred to as 'Londonistan' by anti-terrorist experts in other countries.
Then, and perhaps this is the most difficult part, how do we as Christians respond to the 'enemy' in our midst?
I'd love to hear what you think.

The book is a bunch of racist, xenophobic, hate-filled nonsense. The reviewer should be ashamed of herself for falling for it. It's on a logical par with calling America a neo-Nazi white-supremacist totalitarian state because it has the Ku Klux Klan. And this nation has NEVER been a Christian nation. There is no such thing - there are only Christian people, called to love our enemies not hate them. This is a book designed to foment hate.
Thanks, Vince. The last thing Britain needs right now is our own "Religious Right" promoting racist xenophobia in the guise of Christianity.
