Isaiah 30: 20-21

'Although the Lord gives the bread of adversity and water of affliction your teachers will be hidden no more, you will see them. Whether you turn left or right your ears will hear a voice behind you saying 'This is the way walk in it.' (Isaiah 30: 20-21)

When I'm not organising beach parties in the middle of Winter or hiking up Snowdon with 15 young people who are complaining of tiredness before we have left the car park, I am a preacher.

I was due to be preaching one Sunday not long ago and I woke up with immense fear- 'How can I preach? I let God down, I'm too young for this, I feel so far from Him.' Despite my fear and weaknesses I knew I had to do it. 'It's all you Jesus'- I was repeating in my mind, take charge.'

I stood up in front of the congregation and was overwhelmed by the presence of God. There was a still small quiet voice in my head saying 'It is I!' I was blown away that a mighty and holy God wants to be with me. A God who is so powerful, so perfect, a mighty warrior wants to be with little old me. Wow!! He came to be with me that day and I could almost feel Him and hear His voice. Jesus never leaves you stranded its just sometimes we have to stand still and listen for the voice of guidance.

The mighty God wants to be with you too. Stop, stand still and listen, there's a voice inside you that is calling your name. The voice of God is saying 'It is I, I am here, walk with me'. The Saviour wants to be with little old you. You are His trainee He loves you, and wants to guide you.

Remember the story in John chapter 6 when the disciples go to wait for Jesus by the lake and get impatient, so take a ride in the boat? That boat gets in trouble and their Saviour walks on the water goes to them and calms their fears. They invite him into the boat and then he steers the boat to shore.

If you are in trouble, listen for a calming voice, ask Him into your life, your situation, and He will guide you to safe land.

'This is the way, walk in it'.
