Cleland Tom on who do you think you were?

Continued from page 1

He sent his son Jesus so we could be adopted as his sons and daughters and honoured as heirs. We can even call him Father (Romans 8:14-17).

This means we can be free from curses and other negative spiritual influences hidden away in our family trees. We really are new creations.

Curses can cast a shadow over our lives and shut out God's blessing. They can sometimes block healing and rob us of many benefits of salvation.

The truth is, they were broken by Jesus through the cross (Galatians 3:13). But freedom doesn't always happen automatically.

Curses and other generational nasties can trespass into our lives until Jesus' victory is enforced and we possess his promises by faith.

The money changers in the temple had no legal right to be there. But Jesus still had to forcefully evict them. Similarly, the enemy will squat in our temples and we may need Jesus to evict them.

Being a new creation really does give us a new perspective of family, past and present. And the chance to change our future and our family's, too CR
