Proverbs 18:16
Day 6
If I was the devil .
I would make you ...compare yourself to someone else.
Your success is not measured by how well you are doing in comparison to someone else. You measure your success by how well you are doing in comparison to what God has asked you to do!
So then, why be like someone else? You play you far better!
How do you stop the comparison game ?
1. Remember, 'air guitar' is not real!
Every guy has picked up a
tennis racket or something else resembling a guitar and played "AIR
GUITAR" whilst jumping up and down on the bed! The truth is, we have
all, from time to time, wanted to be someone else! It could have been
a friend, a rock star, a TV personality, or someone we simply
admire.
If the devil he can get you to continually compare
yourself with someone else, and not be happy with you, he has you in
his trap!
2. Understand what your 'gift' does for you.
You don't have the
opportunities you have ( and will have) because you are 'like someone
else'. You have the opportunities you have because you are YOU, and
the gift of God within you has made way for you. God does not want you
to be someone else; He wants you to be you! There is no power and
authority in me trying to be you, or you trying to be me. (The devil
knows that, and that's why he tries to get you to compare yourself so
often). You are created by God to be YOU, with your unique gifts and
abilities! Don't deprive the world of YOU any more. Be you and let the
gift of God create room for you! (Read Proverbs 18:16)
3. Know how the anointing works in your life.
And the conclusion
of my "Theology Thesis", I came to the conclusion that the anointing
is two things,
1. 'To be set apart by God'
2. 'The power and
equipment to do God's will'
So get this. God set you apart (first meaning) since before time began (Jeremiah 1:5), and created you with a specific purpose in mind. He would be a cruel God if He asked you to do something that you were incapable of doing. So He anoints you (second meaning), or 'gives you the power and equipment', to do everything He asks of you. This is absolutely brilliant. You see, He doesn't anoint you or empower you to be like anyone else. The moment you try, God says, "Oh well, you do it alone!" But the moment you stop comparing and decide to be you, He empowers you to not only do it, but do it WELL!
PRAYER: Dear God, thank you for making me, me. I don't need to try to be anyone else. Today I choose to believe who you say I am. Amen.
