Listen again to the radio interview
Visit the Addictions prayer room on this website and you will see that addictions of all types including to self harm are very common in our western world.
One high profile person who has suffered from self harming and also from physically abusive relationships is the American blues rock artist Sarah Kelly who dropped into the Cross Rhythms studios for the City Drive programme in March. Known for her gutsy rock vocals, Sarah is also a gutsy honest communicator and she shared powerfully about her journey through these physically abusive relationships and self harm.
It was a poignant, vulnerable broadcast, and whether they are areas that you struggle with yourself or not, it is compelling listening. If you missed the interview at the time you can hear it again here (MP3 file will open in Media Player).
This is one email feedback we received following the broadcast: 'I love this station. I have been very impressed. The music is great, the presenters are very knowledgeable and entertaining but more importantly you can really feel the heart of God through all that is said. I really enjoyed the interview yesterday on City Drive. I almost started crying at my desk at work. JJ.'
If you yourself are wrestling with similar issues then you might like to take a bold step to open up your heart to the Lord in our prayer rooms. There you can be assured that someone will stand with you in prayer too.
You might also like to talk with a Christian organisation who are experienced in helping people through these challenges. On our Connections page you will see sections that deal with Bullying/Violence/Abuse and also Drugs/Alcohol/Addictions.
