Tony Cummings spoke to diva NERESA MAYE.
Tony: I understand you've just completed a video of the single.
Neresa: "Yes, I just completed it on Sunday evening and it's the hardest work I've done in a long, long time." (laughs)
Tony: How do you view your position in the music scene?
Neresa: "I guess I'd say I'm a Christian working in the mainstream really. When I started out singing I wasn't a Christian. I guess you could say I've taken my faith into the music I do now."
Tony: So how did you become a Christian then?
Neresa: "It started out with my record producer Boomy. We met in '95 and as we were working through together I really believe it was divine because somehow we both decided we'd do a Bible study together. We weren't Christians. We started going to church but became born again in '96. He's my husband now."
Tony: R&B, garage music - there's a lot of immorality out there. How do you personally deal with that?
Neresa: "Our focus is that we'll bring music that is God-centred. Everything that we've done is inspired by God. Our whole aim is to represent Christ in a way that is fresh and young and to show people that you don't have to be half naked to bring across a message in a song. You don't have to sink that low to do a good track."
