One of the brightest new names to emerge on the Christian music scene is Sofyka. Impressively, this German-born singer, songwriter and keyboard player has already clocked up five radio hits with the singles "Zion" (2021), "Desire" and "Psalm 121" (2023) and "Tingle Toes" and "Waterfall" (2024). Reviewers have been praising her bright, electro pop music which has connected with radio listeners and critics alike. Jesuswired.com raved about her debut "Zion": "She sings about injustice, about failure and getting back on one's feet again, but above all about the feeling of being able to 'flow' as long as you put yourself in God's hands. Her sound is different. Young. Embracing. Sofyka's voice [is] so captivating. Berlin producer Leif Jørgensson has taken Sofyka's piano demos to a new level. The cool mood of their unique songwriting pulsates in every beat." Christian radio picked up on "Zion" and the track even ended up making number three on the Australian Christian radio chart.

Sofyka was born in a small town near Mannheim, Germany, learned piano as a child and after a Christian conversion committed herself to serving the Lord in music. After graduating, she spent two years in Redding, California, studying at Bethel Church's renowned school of worship. While at Bethel she became a regular contributor to Bethel Music performances. Back in Germany, Sofyka attended a songwriting camp in December 2022 and in collaboration with Berlin-based songwriters Akina Ingold and Jacob Mecke the song "Desire" was written and recorded. Enthused louderthanthemusic.com, "Even though the track doesn't sound like typical Christian music, for Sofyka, 'Desire' is about God. 'Desire' explores the quest for fulfilment and to recognise the importance of relationships in life."

Clearly, in the years to come Cross Rhythms radio listeners will be hearing a lot more from this singer who has named such diverse musical talents as Stephanie Gretzinger and Miley Cyrus as influences. CR
