Peter Morrison from Scottish modern rock team SUPERHERO talks us through tracks on the band's new album
"LH2 Fly"
Life can be full of clouds. They blur
our vision and make it difficult for us to see where we are going.
Going through these clouds is almost always uncomfortable. We don't
know when we'll get through them and what lies on the other side.
"Learning How To Fly" is a song that is intended to bring hope in
these cloudy situations. God has given us all something to reach for.
We are all going on a journey, to a place of walking with him that we
can only imagine. To get there, unfortunately, we have to pass through
a few clouds, a few difficult situations. As we go through, it's not
always fun, but we fight on through, getting stronger, building up
some spiritual muscle to draw us on through to a world above the
clouds. Where before, when we were underneath, the clouds were ugly
and dark, as we soar above them, they reflect the light of the sun and
we can almost see a beautiful new world stretching before us. I like
to think of this as a picture of God's best for me, when he's taken me
above all of my clouds and I am living my life with him, the way that
he intended.

"Blue"
A song I wrote whilst not maybe being in
the best place in the world but still seeing the future is good and
that I want to reach it.

"I Try"
This is a song about the fact that you
maybe can't see God or feel him but if you give your life to him and
cry out to him he will meet you. It's up to us to sincerely want to
know Jesus in our hearts. The song is also about maybe times when
you've turned to your brother or friend and they just don't understand
what you are saying and you get to the point where there is nothing
more you can say.

"Pre-destiny"
Also a song which I wasn't in a
place that I wanted to be. To me it is almost like a modern day psalm.
It's a song about longing to live the destiny that God's got for you.

"Burn & Dazzle"
This is a song written in
one of those special moments when you are amazed by God, by his
presence, by what he's done. It's expression from the heart of feeling
so close to God and being dazzled by him. The line "...burn and
dazzle..." is taken from Isaiah 6:3 where the seraphs are blown away
by the presence of God and worship him. A seraph means something
burning and dazzling.

"Apple Eye"
This expresses how much God cares
for us and how much he wants people to come to know him. It is taken
from the song of Moses where God takes the people out of the desert
land.

Deuteronomy 32:10
"Forever"
This is a song that just shows my
gratitude for all that God has done for me and how when I'm in his
presence I want to stay there.

"Paintstripper"
I wrote "Paintstripper" while I
was working on my pastor's house. I was stripping paint off some stone
stairs and it was really difficult and I was thinking I could maybe
just get most of it off and leave the difficult bits and then just
paint over it. God spoke to me about someone at the time that had a
few things in their life that weren't right. Basically, it was that if
I didn't get all the paint off and make it totally smooth then the new
coat would never look as good as it could just like this person's
life, that unless they surrendered completely to God and let go of the
stuff that was hindering them their new life would never look as good
as it could.

"In Love"
Is an encouragement to people to keep
singing regardless of how they might feel. It is about how God loves
us no matter what and the fact that we can't earn his love.
Ultimately, it is a love song to God. Originally the song was called
"No Religion". This replaced the line "Everybody keep singing..." in
the chorus. We felt that this was a bit misleading. It was just
meaning that we don't have to do things religiously or just for
tradition but we can do everything the Bible says and have a real
relationship with God.

"Don't Be Long"
This is a song about feeling
that the time is here for something big to happen in God's kingdom. It
is a longing for the Church to get ready and for Jesus to come back.
"Today"
It's a very simple song about living for
today and putting the past behind us. If we have stuff in our life, if
we sincerely ask for forgiveness we can tell it to go and move and we
don't have to be held down by it.
