Progressive Americana band Paul Mirfin Band ready new EP
THE YORKSHIRE-based Paul Mirfin Band will perform their version of "Ain't No Grave" at Spring Harvest, Harrogate on Monday 15th April. The song is a radical new arrangement of the traditional song, popularised by Johnny Cash, and was produced at Homefires Studios by John Shepherd and George Oliver Tyreman, and will be released as a single on 16th May. It will be followed by an EP, 'Light Up', to be issued in July. Said Paul Mirfin, "We've been working hard with our producers and this EP promises four of our best songs so far. We've got a very powerful version of 'Ain't No Grave' that has our own distinct sound. The other songs are quite different from anything we've recorded in the past and include a new song 'I Would Be Nothing' that I wrote whilst in a place of solitude in the Yorkshire Dales."
