Ark2 goes into liquidation, despite investment in excess of 2 million pounds
AFTER MONTHS of uncertainty since it laid off its staff, Britain's
first Christian cable television channel ARK2 went into liquidation at
the beginning of June. The Bristol-based company formed two years ago
never managed to get a programme on air despite spending in excess of
two million pounds. The station's managing director Alan Rogers said
the staff on board had "given their best shot" but after having readed
comprehensively both in the United Kingdom and overseas for
alternative sources of capital and finances they were forced to
concede defeat. Rogers continued: "There is a lack of vision and
entrepreneurial flair in Christian television. We wanted to make
programmes with Christian values rather than 'Christian programmes'.
Sadly we were not supported in that."
