The organisation known as Christian Voice is set to get an independent radio license
CHRISTIAN Voice, based in West Bromwich, West Midlands, is getting wide support from such figures as Sir Cliff Richard in its application for an Independent Local Radio (ILR) licence. Christian Voice is a non-denominational radio station offering a mix of good music, news stories and Christian themes.
According to launch director Peter Wilson, it will offer a clear
alternative to listeners looking for all round family entertainment.
"We will be taking a different approach with news reporting, for
instance," he says. "Christian Voice will be reporting all the
positive news about local business. Too often we hear only the bad
news; Christian Voice wants to achieve balance and bring a message of
support."
Previous short-term broadcasts from Christian Voice met
with enthusiastic response from all sections of the community,
including young listeners, established West Midlands businesses and
church leaders. Indications are that there will be further high
profile support for the current Christian Voice bid. Christian Voice
is thought to be the only West Midlands contender for the WM licence
that is based in the West Midlands. If successful, it will also be the
first FM Christian radio station in the UK, outside of London.
