Byan MacLean, former member of Love, dies aged 52

BRYAN MACLEAN, the former guitarist with sixties flower power outfit Love, died on Christmas day aged 52. Maclean, whose half sister is Maria McKee, was always overshadowed by Love's mainman Arthur Lee and only had a smattering of his songs recorded on Love's sixties albums before quitting the band in 1970. His most famous "Alone Again Or" was featured on Love's classic 'Forever Changes' album released in 1968 and by British bands UFO and The Damned.

Having become a Christian in 1970, MacLean twice started but failed to complete solo albums for Capitol and Electra Records before turning his back on the music scene. His musical career recently saw a revival with the critically acclaimed release in 1997 of 'If You Believe In', a collection of demos recorded whilst he was in Love. In an almost surreal twist, he was also recently featured in a BBC documentary which traced the lives of some of the musicians who had auditioned to be in The Monkees. At the time of his death he was working on a worship project, which was to be released in 1999.
