Several Christian labels are to release projects as market grows
AS THE market for music DVDs continues to grow, several Christian labels are releasing projects. Among the newest offerings are DVDs from Michael W Smith and Jars Of Clay. More than 15,000 young people were in attendance when Smith recently recorded footage and audio for the 'Worship' DVD at a Youth For Christ conference in Edmonton, Alberta. 'Worship' was shot with multiple cameras. The project features a "making of" segment, serving up exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, as well as interviews with Smith, his band, road crew and recording engineers in the mix studio. As a special bonus, the DVD will include a director's cut with audio commentary by Smith.
Fans will enjoy performances of some of the worship movement's modern
classics, including "Above All", "Breathe", "Draw me Close" and "Agnus
Dei". 'Worship' also features "Step By Step/Halleluia", a melding of
Rich Mullins' classic and a Smith original; Mullins' "I See You" and
an electric guitar version of U2's "40". 'Worship' was released in the
US by Reunion on 20th August. Also a August 20 US release was the
first DVD by Jars Of Clay. '11 Live: Jars Of Clay In Concert' features
almost two hours if performance footage, including a full concert set
and an intimate acoustic set. Jars fans will also enjoy
behind-the-scenes interviews with the band, as well as a complete
musical retrospective. The concert portion of the video was shot at
the Gaylord Entertainment Center Annex in Nashville.
