Charlie Daniels voices his opinion on the future of country music
VETERAN country artist and Christian Charlie Daniels was among those quoted in April 29th Billboard's article about the state of the country music scene and its erosion by pop sounds. "I don't believe that traditional country is dead. I just think it's being held captive by an industry that seems to be bent on self-destruction. It's very obvious that the people who consult radio don't get past their telephones when they do their research. There are people from coast to coast who are saying, 'I just can't listen to country radio anymore...' If country music is to survive, somebody has got to start playing some more music, get on back to the roots so to speak."
