Greenbelt 2011 promises expansion of children's work
THE GREENBELT Festival for 2011 will herald a new approach to children's work, significantly increasing the amount of family-friendly programming. Said Greenbelt chairperson Andy Turner, "The plan is to bring children to the heart of the festival; providing exciting new venue where families will be able to enjoy great music, film and performing arts together." The fresh approach, which replaces the existing provision of three, two and a half hour child-only sessions, will see a new dedicated family film venue, craft area and a space for child-friendly performance alongside existing favourites Messy Space and the all-age Arena.
Acting festival director Jenny Baker described the changes as
"incredibly exciting." She continued, "We appreciate that for some of
our existing audience this may be a significant change, but we are
confident it will provide more great content to more people,
increasing the value of our offering for children and families."
