America's Gospel Music Association explores expanding into UK
AMERICAS's famed Gospel Music Association is exploring the possibility of setting up a GMA in the UK. A series of showcase concerts are in the process of being held. Said Olave Snelling, chairperson of the GMA steering committee, "It's aim would be to unite artists, broadcasters, record companies, producers, agents in a common purpose to promote, cherish and otherwise expand the Christian gospel music industry in this country and to give us a voice into the media."
A meeting called by the British Gospel Arts Consortium was held on 19th July where the launch of the "G2K events" was announced, funded by a grant of £50,000 to spend on "celebrating the heritage of British gospel music into the millennium."
