Gospel artist Garth Hewitt has performed at the Bethlehem 2000 celebrations
GOSPEL troubadour Garth Hewitt performed a concert as part of the Bethlehem 2000 celebrations, in the Peace Centre, Manger Square. Bethlehem on Saturday 24th June. The concert was organised by Cardinal House, an NGO that works particularly with volunteers who have come to Palestine. Garth sang many of the songs that he had written on travels to that part of the world, which are featured on his album 'Journeys: The Holy Land' and also his new album 'Gospel Singer'.
Bishop Riah Abu el-Assal. a long time friend of Garth, attended the concert and Palestinian poet Rose Shomali translated Garth's song "Ten Measures Of Beauty" and turned it into a poem in Arabic. The Peace Centre has only recently been opened for events and Garth commented. "I was delighted to do this concert, which was given the title 'Songs For Palestine And Peace', as this is such an important time on the journey to peace."
