Licensed download provider iTunes criticised for lack of Christian music.
INTERNET MUSIC store iTunes were criticised recently in Christian
Herald newspaper for the lack of availability of Christian music. In
his Culture Vulture column Nigel James of Big Ideas wrote, "amongst
all the genres of music available in the UK store - alternative,
classical, jazz, country, Disney, world, audiobooks - there is no
place for one of the most popular genres in the USA store, namely
'inspirational'. This means that it isn't possible on the UK site to
listen to or purchase any of the wide variety of contemporary
Christian music that proves so popular in the USA. I'm sure this is a
commercial decision by Apple I imagine that they don't believe they'll
sell much inspirational music in the UK, which says a lot about
Britain and a fair bit about the Church, too."
