Re-readings of hymns on latest Jimmy Needham album

CCM HITMAKER Jimmy Needham has released 'The Hymns Sessions Vol 1'. The self-produced project features eight traditional hymns and two original tunes from Needham. The project was financed by fans via Kickstarter. Said Needham, "I've been so humbled at the response to a project that I thought would be just for a handful of folks. I kind of feel like this might be my 'Dumbo' record. I heard Disney made Dumbo on an extremely tight budget with no expectation that it would be widely embraced. It turned out to be one of the biggest releases in their history."

The album features guests Kevin Jones on "Great Is Thy Faithfulness", Shane & Shane on "Holy, Holy, Holy" and Trip Lee on "How Great Thou Art". The hymn celebrating Easter, "Christos Anesti" ("Christ Is Risen!" in Greek), was originally featured on Needham's 2006 album 'Speak' but now has rewritten lyrics. Needham's other original composition "It Is Finished" features his wife, Kelly, on violin.
