New tenor singer Jerry Skaggs joins Southern gospel stalwarts the Dixie Melody Boys
THE SOUTHERN gospel group the Dixie Melody Boys, who have been active for
over 50 years, have announced a new tenor singer, Jerry Skaggs. Said
the group's leader and bass singer Ed O'Neal, "I was absolutely
thrilled with the number of gentlemen who came forward to audition. I
truly had a difficult decision to make but Jerry Skaggs stood out for
a number of reasons. He's got a great voice, a humble spirit, and he's
a real pro. But after taking him on the road for a couple of weeks, I
saw how he lived his life and there was no doubt that he was the man
for the job." Skaggs began his singing career since the Faith Harmony
Boys in 1987 and later joined his family group the Faithmen. More
recently Jerry sang tenor for the Skyline Boys Quartet until their
retirement.
