Junction 1 cancelled due to poor ticket sales

JUNCTION 1, the Christian music festival planned to rival Greenbelt on the August Bank Holiday weekend, has been cancelled. Their event, backed by Alliance Music, Word Records and Wesley Owen, and with a bill "which was to include the World Wide Message Tribe, dc Talk member Kevin Max, All Star United and Jennifer Knapp, was set to take place at Hillingdon, West London. Said the Junction 1 statement, 'The decision was taken due to extremely disappointing ticket sales, despite huge interest. It was decided that this was the most prudent course of action for all concerned.' The Rev John Smith, UK director of the Evangelical Alliance, one of the festival's sponsors, said, 'We are disappointed that Junction 1 has failed to be the success that the organisers had hoped. We remain committed to the vision behind Junction 1, which is to reach out to disciple a younger generation through our contemporary culture.' Steve Chalke, of Oasis Trust, another of the event's sponsors, said he was extremely disappointed that the festival was not going ahead. But he added the trust was still very excited about junctionradio.com, a challenge to young people to set up their own radio stations on the Internet, a successor to Christmas Cracker and Big Take.
