Sony Music and BMG set to merge to create the world's largest record label.
THE PROPOSED merger between Sony Music and BMG, which will make the company the world's largest record label, is only one formality away from being greenlighted by the European Commission. Once the merger is approved Sony and BMG will have a combined global market share of 25.1 per cent of music sales. The current market leader Universal has a 23.5 per cent share.
