10,000 Reasons book for Matt Redman

BRITAIN'S most popular worship songwriter Matt Redman has penned the book 10,000 Reasons inspired by the worship anthem he co-wrote in 2012. Said the songwriter, "I've written many songs over the years, but this song has had more momentum than any of the others. It's been a huge privilege to see how far it has flown around the world - and how deeply it has connected with some who have heard it or sung it. There have been some truly extraordinary stories that have found their way back to me. At the end of the day, those stories don't showcase the song - it's the other way around - this simple song highlights just what amazing worshippers these people are. I hope this book, and the stories of trust, hope and devotion found inside, encourage many more worshippers on their way too."

One inspiring story told in the book Matt co-wrote with Craig Borlase, with a foreword by Max Lucado, is that of Reuben Hill. In 2015 while undergoing pioneering brain surgery Reuben was asked to sing so surgeons could ensure this part of the brain remained unharmed. Reuben, who also sings with Imperial College Choir, chose "10,000 Reasons" and while lying in the operating theatre he sang out the lyrics, "Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me/I'll still be singing when the evening comes." The book is published by Integrity. CR
