Saints Augustine And Seraphim Of Sarof Monastery make Greek pop charts
ONE OF THE most unusual hitmaking groups ever has been storming the
Greek pop charts. Three monks of the Saints Augustine And Seraphim Of
Sarof Monastery formed a group, Eleftheroi (translated The Free), and in
2001 released their first album, 'I Learned To Live Free' which has
now passed 70,000 sales. Fathers Nektarios, Pandeleimon and
Augoustinos have now released their third CD, 'Konta Sas (By Your
Side)'. According to Billboard magazine, 'Konta Sas' "includes a
selection of churning rock numbers, a reggae track and Greek
traditional material, as well as two English language dance mixes and
an MTV-style video clip." The album has been in the Greek Top 20 since
its release.
