Metalcore band Silent Planet release single/video, ready album
LOS ANGELES-based metalcore band Silent Planet have unveiled a new song with
video, "Panic Room". The track explores the mind of a soldier
returning home with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Vocalist
Garrett Russell spoke about the song which emanates from the band's
album 'Everything Was Sound', to be released by Solid State Records on
1st July. "'Panic Room' examines the inner reality of the soldier
after suffering instances of violence. . . and resulting cognitive
dissonance. The song was inspired by a close friend of the band who
shared his story with me while we were in the studio working on this
record. The song attempts to examine within a greater culture of war
[ideas] held aloft by politicians who patronise soldiers as talking
points while cutting bills that could provide soldiers with mental
health services while entering into needless, preventable armed
conflict. 'Panic Room' tells the story of one veteran who attempts to
retain his sense of humanity while being suspicious of his role as a
cog in history's strongest war machine."
