Diana DeGarmo latest Christian singer to come to public attention through American Idol.
TV TALENT search American Idol, the US version of Pop Idol, is continuing to produce its fair share of Christian singers. The first American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and second year winner Clay Aiken have both professed some kind of Christian faith while RJ Helton, who recently released his 'Real Life' gospel debut for B-Rite, also comes out of the American Idol axis. Now the runner-up of the third series of American Idol is Diana DeGarmo, who turns out to be the niece of Jesus rock veteran and president of EMI Christian Music Group Publishing, Eddie DeGarmo. Even though Diana was placed second behind Fantasia Barrino, 16 year old Diana is reported to be signing a mainstream pop deal.
