Huddersfield's Noel Donaldson releases 'Reflections' album
HUDDERSFIELD-based songwriter Noel Donaldson has released the album 'Reflections'. The project features singers Lisa Jayne Ball, Julie Brooke, Hannah May Pearson, Paul Jackson and Simon Roberts. Wrote Donaldson, "This collection of songs started many years ago and every song has its own story. 'Lord Open Our Eyes' is a re-work of a previous CD; 'When The Lights' is a song about a Sunday service; 'Maybe Another Day' is from a book I wrote, Spring Always Comes - a poem from a good friend. . . 'The Rainbow Or The Thunder' has special memories. In the mid-1970s I went to a concert in Manchester with other church members and on the way back a quietly spoken man sat and talked to me. I was new to the church and he seemed a nice person. Months later news broke which shocked the whole country, 13 missionaries were massacred in what was then Rhodesia, one family from my church. It was many years later I realised Peter McCann was sat with me on the coach home that night. The full story is available in a book by Phyllis Thompson called The Rainbow Or The Thunder."
