Veteran Dave Clemo talks about his battle with leukaemia

KETTERING-based country and worship artist Dave Clemo has spoken about his battle with leukaemia. "It's just over a year since I started treatment for chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. I had my last dose of chemotherapy back in August and bone marrow tests and CT scans about a month ago. I've just got back from the hospital where they told me that they could find no trace of CLL cells in my marrow, and was therefore in full remission. I had about four inches trimmed off my hair to celebrate. (It was getting long and straggly - and I'd vowed not to have it trimmed until I was in remission.) I have to continue taking one of my drugs, which my GP will have to prescribe from next month. I will see the specialist in three months, and then at regular intervals from then on (about three or four months apart)."

Clemo continued, "I'm blessed in that I was able to fulfill my ambitions and play every date on Nicki Gillis' UK tour back in July. I was able to stagger the final two bouts of chemo in order to be healthy enough to play (but not to drive). I'm looking forward to two UK tours with Nicki next year, in July and again in September. My own solo career kicks off again in a couple of weeks when I'm due to play a support slot for Paul Wheater at Rockingham Road Baptist Church, Kettering on Saturday 13th November." CR
