Alliance writes to Prime Minister over worship for pupils

THE EVANGELICAL Alliance has written to John Major offering its help in achieving authentic daily worship in schools following the Prime Minister's statement that the Government has no plan to change the law that requires a daily act of collective worship for all pupils. The EA has announced that it is looking for the Department For Education to ensure that the requirement is properly implemented and that the law does not fall further into disrepute, to be followed by abolition. The EA plans to convene four regional conferences bringing together churches with resources to offer school assemblies with representatives from schools who were open to receiving church help in providing worship.
