Record attendance and response at this year's Soul Survivor events
THE ANNUAL youth culture event Soul Survivor has reported a record response at this year's gatherings. Over 2,400 young people gave their lives to Jesus during the three five-day events. In total over 28,000 young people attended, including over 2,000 who came to the first Soul Survivor in a venue in the north of England (the Cheshire Showground). Said Mike Pilavachi, founder and director of Soul Survivor, "We saw such an amazing breakthrough this year as a result of so many of the young people bringing friends who weren't Christians. We were thrilled at how many made first time commitments to Jesus and were completely blown away by what we saw and the things we've heard. We also found that the young people were so engaged and so passionate to learn. At each week we had around 60 seminars and found they were packed out, some drawing groups of over 3,000. It's been an incredible summer!"
The events also saw a tremendous reaction to the work of Soul Action -
a joint initiative between Soul Survivor and Tearfund. Mike added,
"We're committed to helping young people find ways to make social
action an everyday part of their lives both here and abroad and have
been thrilled with the response we've had to the work of Soul Action
including a significant amount of money that was raised for us to set
up a half-way house for street children in South Africa."
