One time frontman with Stryper Michael Sweet launches solo career
EX-STRYPER lead singer/songwriter Michael Sweet has signed a long-term worldwide recording contract with Benson Music Group. He was a founding member of Christian glam metal team Stryper who in the eight years prior to their break-up in 1991 sold over five million albums and earned six gold and two platinum records.
The recording deal marks a reconciliation, as Benson decided not to
distribute Stryper's last album 'Against The Law' due to its lack of
Christian lyrical content and the band's direction at the time.
Michael admits he made some wrong decisions and did some things that
he now regrets. In a press release Michael Sweet said, "I've learned from my
mistakes and I'm so thankful our God is a faithful and patient God. He
never leaves us, we only leave him. I know he's given me a second
chance and that's blown me away. His grace is so unbelievable."
Sweet's first album is tentatively scheduled for release in the first
quarter of 1994.
