U2 sue American band Negativeland over unauthorised use of hit.
U2, WHOSE first single for two years is high in the UK charts, are taking legal action against American band Negativeland over the use of 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' on their 'U2' 45. The Irish outfit's record company and publishers filed a complaint in Los Angeles' US District Court, stating that no permission was sought for the use of the U2 song and also claiming that consumers could be misled into thinking U2 participated in the recording. The single, a heavily satirical interpretation of the original recording, features an Emo Phillips sound-alike reciting the lyrics to the song. Meanwhile, U2's eighth LP, 'Achtung, Baby!' is released on 18th November.
