British acts not doing well in US charts
MAINSTREAM US trade magazine Billboard has run a front page story on
the current large-scale lack of support by the American music scene
for British origin music. There are currently only two British acts on
the US Hot 100 with no British acts on either of the US rock charts.
Once the dominant influence on the American pop scene there are
currently no acts breaking through or sustaining major successes. Lack
of concerted US touring and Americans preferring harder forms of rock
are among the reasons cited in Billboard for the spectacular decline.
