Guy Penrod leaves Gaither Vocal Band to go solo

AFTER MORE than 14 years as the lead singer of the Gaither Vocal Band, Guy Penrod has announced he will be going solo. Said Penrod, "My years with the Gaither Vocal Band have been among the most glorious of my life. Now, though, with the Band continuing in strength and me tackling the new challenge of a solo career, we can all serve our God even more powerfully in the days to come."

Also leaving the Gaither Vocal Band is Marshall Hall who has sung baritone with the group since 2004. The new line up for the GVB (now for the first time a five-man group) sees the return of some of the group's best loved alumni. Effective immediately, the new line up will be Bill Gaither, David Phelps, Wes Hampton, Michael English and Mark Lowry. Mark Lowry will complete all his previously scheduled solo engagements through April 2009 and will appear with the Gaither Vocal Band at every available opportunity during this transition, beginning with the Gaither Caribbean Cruise on 22nd February. CR

I really did and do enjoy listening to Guy Penrod on the Gathier Gospel Hour everyday. His spirit of loving the Lord and praising HIM as he sings just shines through like I believe Jesus would want it to. I know he must be penacostal by the way he honors the Lord in surrender as he sings. Not that you have to be spirit filled to go to heaven......you just have more power and it shows. Praise the Lord. I believe that you should love Jesus more than any man, group or even church. I do love Jesus first, but I really enjoy hearing Guy sing. Bless you in all that you do for the kingdom.

I believe Christmas is to celebrate our living Savior, and this year I spent money only on Bill Gaither's CD's and DVD"s. I have experienced every emotion, except anger. I am disappointed that I can't find the DVD that goes with Lovin Life. Any help would be appreciated. I too miss Guy Penrod. Just to see him brings Christ to mind. He has a fabulous voice and presence. I love to watch and hear him sing. I have his solo album, but I too hope he goes back to Bill Gaithers Vocal Band.
