Tabernacle Prayer: 7. Holy of Holies – Stepping into the Presence

Inside the Holy of Holies was the Ark of the Covenant, which represents great intimacy with God. Moses would meet with God at the ark and talk with Him.

'So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to His friend.' (Exodus 33:11)

What an amazing place of intimacy that must have been to speak to God face to face, it is surely something to be strived for. Today there is not a tabernacle because God tore down the old way when Jesus died (Matthew 27:51) and made His home in our hearts.

Using the Tabernacle Prayer is a way to draw closer in intimacy with God to peal away the hard parts of your heart and to go into and meet God in the inner sanctuary of your being and step into His presence. Why not make this old song your prayer-

Take me past the outer courts
And through the Holy Place
Past the Brazen Alter
Lord I long to see your face
Take me by the crowds of people
And the priests who sing their praise
God I hunger and thirst for your righteousness
But it’s only found in one place, so –

Take me into the Holy of Holies
Take me in by the blood of the lamb
Take me into the Holy of Holies
Take the coal, cleanse my lips
Here I am
