Prayer Language: 2. Praying In Tongues

I’m not the world’s expert on tongues and everything that goes with it, but I do know that the Bible says that tongues edify or build up the individual (1 Corinthian 14: 4)

Yet the Bible also says in 1 Corinthians 14: 2 that, “…he who speaks in a tongue, does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however in the spirit he speaks mysteries.”

Therefore if he speaks in the spirit he speaks in a language God can understand, and therefore if you pray in tongues you pray in a language God can understand.

I know that there are often times when I don’t know how to pray into a situation so I pray in tongues and I know that I am praying the heart of God through those tongues and therefore my prayer is effective. Other times I can pray in tongues and God will give me an answer in prayer or a way to pray through my own words. Tongues is an effective and solid way to pray, especially when you don’t know how to pray.

If you don’t have the gift of tongues ask God for it today – His gifts are there for us all and there in abundance.
