2 Face hail from Long Beach, California and are more commonly known as Jerome and Tyrone where birth certificates are concerned. Their mission is summed up by the Scripture in Mark 16 verse 15 which states "You are to go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere." The album begins and ends with a prayer that makes it abundantly clear that Humble and Riteous (their rap monikers) are passionate about communicating truth through their music. The simple messages of "Go" and "Dust Off" are great examples of this with Dre-esque beats and heartfelt lyrics born out of real life experience. On the flipside, tracks like "Fisherman" and "Nothing God Can't Do" seem to run out of ideas and become quickly repetitive. "What He Did For Me" is a fantastic testimony to God's changing work delivered over a chunky body mover of a beat though a live rendition of "Party In Heaven" manages to even top this. Its raw old school vibe and medley of beats is so dramatically different to anything else on this record that it stands out like the proverbial sore thumb but in the more desirable sense. The latter half of the album tends to drift somewhat towards the wrong side of mediocrity but if you are looking for honest Christ-centred hip-hop then there are flashes of brilliance here.
