Whilst primarily aimed at the gospel market, this interesting new release includes some secular pieces, like "The Fields Of Athenry", the Dillards' bluegrass classic "There Is A Time" and the very English traditional piece "Scarborough Fair". This I find rather perplexing, as whilst all very pleasant, the versions offered here by this young family group from the Texas hill country hardly stand comparison to the best of the hundreds of other renditions recorded down the years. That said there is something engagingly homespun about this album and after opening with the bright and breezy gospel classics "I'll Fly Away"/"Do Lord", 'Wayfaring Stranger' finishes up with three Proch originals, "Long Road", "Memory Of A Dead Man" and "Love What You Do", which are very direct gospel pieces, quite profound to be found in such a youthful group. 4 Proches comprise siblings Beecher on guitar and vocals, Ezra on banjo/guitar, Liza vocals and tiny young Asa on mandolin and percussion. All in all a heartwarming album.
