Ferris beats the strings of his acoustic with passion and accuracy on the rhythmic opener "Moth To A Flame". It has a Brian Houston essence about it in that it's an honest, confessional song. This young man from Northern Ireland has got a good way with lyrics, the second track, "Hollow Wooden Instruments", is a clever allegory of us as vessels for the Lord to fill, as well as describing the instruments that populate this record. "Even Now" is the best lyric and made me stop and think. Ferris' voice is good enough, not particularly memorable, but he hits the notes and conveys a sense of youthful energy and conviction. "Here's To You" has a melody that would suit many of the 'emo' acts that are holding a large share of the charts in the States and popular with the youth here in the UK. I would like to know what this track would sound like with a full band. This is a question that hangs over this whole five-song EP. Although not of bad quality, the arrangements here are sparse and lack texture. A band would do a lot to enhance these good songs.

i'm tempted to respond to some certain comments made but i refuse to bring ill feeling to this topic, after all, its about a great cd, a close friend and ultimately to glorify God.
I've had the pleasure of working with this guy, i'd love to hear what our old band could do with these songs too, but nothing takes away from Aaron Ferris' ability to write a great, thought provoking, heart felt song and in agreement with jay i feel the less is more approach of the acoustic sound helps to powerfully deliver the message in each of these songs...all great songs can be played on an acoustic guitar, a rock legend once said that....any idea's who?
well done aaron, this cd is brilliant mate

I laughed for about five minutes at Miss Wrigley's comment. Legend.

Passion is the buzzword for this cd. From start to finish the music, although stripped down, grabs you by the heart and doesn't let go until well after it's over. A full band, in my opinion, would take away from the sound.

After all, here's to something different.

it's a snip at a fiver, and there's no pussyfooting round with the lyrics either. it's passionate, it's gutsy and it may well lack the backing of a full band but seeing the man live more than makes up for that.

Needs to find his voice I reckon

This is a great ep for anyone who likes their acoustic rock with a fresh edge. '180' will always be my favourite track, but all the songs share honest, heartfelt feelings and opinions about living as a Christian in todays world. Definitely get hold of this e.p. and definitely make a point of getting to hear Aaron Ferris live!
