"25 of America's favourite choruses sung in a fresh, new way," states the cover. An hour and 10 minutes of standards like "There Is None Like You", "Lord, You Have My Heart", "Majesty" and "Beautiful Saviour". This collection is instrumentally competent and rolls along at an easy and pleasant enough pace with a few notable moments - namely the down home slide guitar of "Great And Mighty", some powerful vocal harmonies and a delightfully bluesy take on Donna Adkin's "Glorify Thy Name". However, the fact that there are 25 songs featured here and we are already on the fourth volume does lead to the feeling that this is a bit of a conveyer belt exercise and, apart from offering new versions of well known songs, I struggle to see the point when the Church would be better served by being introduced to brand new songs to aid in worship. In addition, the sleevenotes suggest you will "experience God's presence as you surround yourself with the sounds of 'Acoustic Worship'." Surely, it is God who chooses to reveal his presence to us?
