If your only experience of German pop and rock has been on the Eurovision song contest, this will come as a bit of a surprise for you. This is melodic pop rock from multi-instrumentalist Addi M with a little bit of help from his mates. It's mainly self-penned except for a rather incongruous version of "Be Thou My Vision" which closes the album and is described in the sleevenotes as "written by some Irish monk many hundred years ago." A big airy production gives this a strong sound and brings the best out of the melodic songs. Standouts include the upbeat pop rock of "Walk By His Side" and the acoustic catchy pop of the frankly lovely "Love Is A Shaded Room". "Silent Victims" is more intense with plenty of talk-box guitar giving this a 70s feel! Overall more poppy than rocky but an accomplished album and all sung in English!
