When reviewing demos, sorry, privately financed tapes, one tends to repeat oneself endlessly, going on about the obvious deficiencies brought about by a lack of a reasonable recording budget. But when all is said and done it's singers and songs which make or break recordings, big budget or small. On the singing front After Ours don't really get started, the dear brother doing the singing having a voice which is both adenoidal and lacking in any passion, while on the song front, they sound like compositions by raw beginners. "Days Go By" seems to drone on forever while "Shout It Out" is a painfully wet ballad with woeful pitching. A poor tape. It was recorded in '92 so maybe After Ours have improved a lot since then.
