For 20 years the Rev Al Green has put up with people telling him that he should record an album of "secular" love songs and, more annoyingly, with his record company advertising his latest gospel release as his first secular release in years. So 1986's 'He Is The Light' became 'Going Away' in the UK and so it went on. This time Al gives the people what they want - 10 love songs cooked to perfection by Arthur Baker. However, Al doesn't fail to bring his faith to bear on each of his own compositions and the remainder are carefully chosen. So 'People In The World' is for those who "are sure of his salvation" and those "who need to see what you can do". Smoky Robinson's "Don't Look Back" is exquisite. Al is in fine vocal form throughout and this album (some tracks remixed from his UK only 'Don't Look Back') is quite wonderful.
