It seems at the moment that hardcore is a pretty popular genre with American bands. It has to be said that much of it is dull and uninspiring but there are one or two bands who have, to their credit, broken the trend. Alove For Enemies are known for touring with Seventh Star and this EP is receiving a full advertising push. While the music is not that original, it is at least better than some of the recent hardcore releases I have had the displeasure of hearing. The music here is not technical by any means but it is heavy and also catchy at times. There are some nice rhythms in there too. The main criticism I have is that the vocals are a little weak and lack some of the venom and fury that I like to hear. The final song is also a little odd, being a piano instrumental which is nice but a little out of place. Lyrically though I am very impressed with this band. Some Christian bands have sadly fallen into the trap of being very vague when speaking about their faith. This is not the case here though, and these guys are clearly not ashamed to centre their music around Jesus which is as it should be. All in all this release will not win any new fans for hardcore music but it's a sound release that does show some promise so if you like hardcore then this is worth looking out for.
